GM, that is a nice picture. I think that gold looks damn close to what I have seen from the alps printers. Some of the darker looking photos might be a function of the overcoat yellowing.

Lucky you, with 'customer no service' AT&T, I get an internet disconnect, requiring a modem reboot if I'm not actively scrolling/typing!

I considered this, but 3D lettering was really popular back then plus Altec's QA was still quite good overall.

Cool! Agreed, those old water transfers would turn a bright yellow to an antique gold even stored away in a box.

Marty check your computer settings.I can leave The Altec user board up with no issues, my display will shutdown after 45 min., but as soon as I touch the mouse pad it is there so It isn't Hostboard.. :confused:


Guys don't forget there are atleast 3-4 variations of this decal that I am aware of ! And 2 colors.. Gold & Silver. The 3D effect isn't on all of them.I think the higher the quality cab or the more money you spent the better the decals seemed to be on the cabs..

That 3D effect is going to be very hard to get perefect.. Printers don't do very fine details all that well.Otherwise we would all be printing money !!! :Big smile:

It looks more like the '3D effect' that GM is mentioning to me than a registration problem. Notice that it only happens on the lower horizontal areas of the letters. Look at the 'E'. It is only on the lower horizontal area - not the middle or upper one. The opening between the 'A' and the square box is also very clear, as is the gold triangle next to the box.

I would take a photo of the decal on the 820 for you guys - to compare with the one GM posted. But it will probably be late august before I pick them up.

Also, the cabinet is dark, not blonde, so it seems that gold is the proper color for what I would be interested in.

As I mentioned, it is *great* that you guys are taking this on!

I just changed the color and turned it to 3D what do you guys think? Top one is the new logo the bottom one is the one Greg posted.

Wow! Very nice!

My remaining comment is that the square box should be moved to the right just a tad, so that the black line forming the left edge of the bottom bar continues on to form the right edge of the box. Except for the small gap, the black line then continues upward to form the left side of the "A".

Moved the box to the right, thickened up the top of the "T" 'E" and "C" Also after looking through the post's and seeing the other 3D looking logo I also say it was a registration problem during printing and was not really done on purpose. So I say we go with this design.
